The best way to predict the future is to create it
Is today a good day? Do you feel you are a step closer to the life you want? Are the decisions you made today going to help you create the future you wish to have? It starts with being clear on what you want the future to look like. It helps to write it down and think about what it is going to take to get there. I have another suggestion. Vision Boards. I am a fan. These can be done on Pinterest or other social media sites or even go “old school” where you cut out pictures/words from a magazine and glue them to a poster board. There may only be a few things you want to visualize like a place you wish to visit or there may be a new place where you want to live or you could be wanting a complete lifestyle change. Build the future you want in pictures. I believe vision boards are a wonderful tool to help you keep your eye on the prize. It will help create an emotional connection that motivates you. It makes the dream in your mind real, so you begin to believe it is possible. Make it happen!
SMALL TASK: CHANGE YOUR AIR FILTERS. This task is supposed to be done every 3 months. It is one that is easily forgotten since you don’t see them. So, today is the day. This will not take long if you already have replacements, but, if not, take a picture or write down the make/measurements and get to Ace Hardware or Home Depot. They usually just slide out and in, so this should take no time at all. Go ahead and clean out the dryer vents too. :)
SMILE MAKER: BUY SOMEONE’S GROCERIES. This one will absolutely blow someone away and make you feel great. It is such a fun surprise and will make the recipient’s day. A random act of kindness is always an uplifting experience. I am not suggesting that you spend hundreds of dollars. It is a very impactful gesture no matter how much you spend. If the shopper in front of you has a bill you feel comfortable covering, let the checker know you would like it added to yours. Another way to do it is to buy the groceries of someone behind you. Picture this, you have a cart full and have already started unloading and scanning has begun. Then, someone walks up behind you with one or two items. Ask them to go ahead of you, have their items scanned and add it to your bill. They get to just walk out without waiting. Most likely the shopper will tell you that you do not have to do that, but you let them know that it is your pleasure and you hope they have an extra great day. This will put a smile on everyone’s face, including the checker and will result in good feelings all around. Try it!
