Today, Not Someday.
Today is the day of my first official blog entry! It does make me a bit nervous to put myself out there like this, but I’m doing it. I’ve thought about this for a while and I decided today is the day. Can you relate? Perhaps there is something in your life that you have thought about doing, really want to do and maybe even need to do. Maybe you don’t feel entirely comfortable yet but, can you take that first step today? Not someday, Today! It certainly is easier to say tomorrow or next week but, consider acting right now. Do something today to make yourself happy. Make someone else happy. Move the needle. Make Today that Someday you’ve been waiting for every day.
Now, like I wrote last week, I am going to suggest a small task each week. A less time consuming, but still rewarding task. Something we know we should do, but don’t take the time. It may sound like just a simple step, but you never know where it may lead...
SMALL TASK: CLEAN YOUR COFFEE MAKER. You know it needs it. Scrub it down. Really wash it, not just the swirl water around kind of wash, take it apart as much as you can and clean. Use soap and water. Descale it too. Vinegar works great. If you grind your own beans, then tackle the grinder too. Shouldn’t take too long. It’s time Today, Not Someday.
SMILE MAKER: WRITE A LETTER. This is the perfect time to do this since we are sheltering in place now. We are all cut off from people that mean the world to us and a letter is such a thoughtful way to tell someone you care. This Random Act of Kindness is not often done by most people. Write a letter to a loved one, friend, acquaintance or even a total stranger that you know could benefit from a caring message. I’m talking about the “old school” letter that you mail. Most of us only get bills or advertisements or publications in the mail. Those days that an actual letter or note comes in the mail are so special. Choose someone or even more than one person in your life that you want to reach out to because you have something you need to tell them, something you want to tell them or just because you want to make them smile. Everyone wants to hear nice words, a funny memory and smile from just the simple notion that someone was thinking of them today and took the time to write it down. You don’t need special stationary. It is entirely the thought that counts. Do it Today, Not Someday.
