Don’t pursue happiness, create it
Think about what makes a happy moment, a happy experience and, the goal of, a happy life. Are there common threads? Are there circumstances that can be duplicated? First, concentrate on the lesser significant happenings like a meal or a trip to the store. When did these everyday activities provide you the most pleasure? Why were some occurrences better than others? Take the time to make an activity more enjoyable and, as a result, more memorable. Second, put your efforts into building a life of joy and contentment. Again, assess what is going to make an experience wonderful. What makes you happy and how can that feel of delight last longer? Everyone has a different definition of happiness. Ponder what it means to you. When are you most at ease and joyful? What makes you smile on the inside and out? Treat every activity of your day like an event and another opportunity to create a lasting and positive experience. Take what you find uplifting in every day and implement it into your life in a sustainable way. Create a happy life with countless happy moments in each day!
SMALL TASK: SECURE DOOR HINGES. Look closely. I bet the hinges on your doors need your attention. Include all the doors in this project including closets, bathrooms, the door to the garage etc. There is a rod that creeps up over time. Get a hammer and pound it down. Any hammer works. You can also use a mallet if you are fearful of missing and hitting a wall. The rod should be flush with the hinge and it should tap down easily. Also, check where the arm touches the door. Is the rubber still attached? Is there a mark on the door? You may need to replace the rubber stops and do a little touch up paint too. Lastly, this job may need some Vaseline. I have found this is the most effective product to get rid of squeaks. Simply smear it directly on the hinge, then open and close the door to get it inside the hinge smearing a few more times at different stages of open. The annoying sounds should be gone!
SMILE MAKER: LEAVE FLOWERS AT SOMEONE’S DOOR. It feels good to do it and it will bring such joy to the one that receives them. Just cut them from your yard or get some from the store. Leave them on the doorstep of a friend, neighbor or someone you feel needs a smile. We are all home much of the day during this shelter in place. Send a text or call and tell them to check their porch. Be sure and write a note letting them know you care. I suggested flowers since they are such a cheerful addition to any room. You can leave a box of candy, a jar of jam or anything at all. This unsolicited act of kindness will be appreciated with anything you leave. Reach out and make someone’s day!
