Success is a journey, not a destination
The meaning of success is a very personal one with many components. You may measure success in terms of career or wealth. There may be a certain title you want to hold or a portfolio value you want to attain.  Hopefully, there is also a component of your definition that includes family, friends, and internal happiness. Is there harmony in the family? Are there any unnecessary squabbles that can be put to rest? Do you have a solid friend or friends you can count on that have your back? Have you reached a place of inner peace and self-fulfillment? No matter how you clarify success, it should always be a lifelong mission that requires constant attention, nurturing and effort. The small victories should be celebrated along the path and the desire for constant self-improvement should be enjoyed.
SMALL TASK: PERSONAL GROOMING. You may already take time to do this, but there is always more to do. Set the scene for yourself. Music and maybe even a candle for the smell and ambiance. If you have a magnifying mirror, get it out. Take a good look. What needs to be done? Now is the time. Clean up those eyebrows, put on a face mask, push down your cuticles and tidy up those fingernails, shave where you need to and pluck if necessary. Do not rush through. This is your time. Take it. All these little tasks, or even just one, will give you a bit of satisfaction that will go a long way. It is always nice to take care of personal grooming needs and, as a result, you will feel better about yourself and have more spring in your step.
SMILE MAKER: PUT TOGETHER A SCRAPBOOK. This can be as big or as small a job as you want. You can either embark on the task of chronicling a lifetime or just a few pictures and memorabilia for a friend’s birthday. Father’s Day is coming up. If you are one of the lucky ones to still have your Dad around, then he would most certainly enjoy a scrapbook. When you assemble memories for yourself and someone else, it is cathartic. You may relive times that you would rather not and, the other side of that coin, you will be able to relive those memories that made a day great, an amazing year and a lifetime of enjoyment. Look through emails, photos or maybe even cards you have kept. Write your thoughts down and caption the entries. Enjoy the process as you enjoy your life. It is a journey where you are creating a lasting smile and not a destination of completing the task. Live your life that way and you will realize that each moment of enjoyment is not for the last time, it is the first of many in a lifetime of happy memories.
